The Federation represents the interests of member societies and family history in general at a national level. To do this we forge and maintain links with other relevant organisations. We focus on issues such as the preservation, security and accessibility of archival material. Organisations with whom we meet include The National Archives, General Register Office and London Metropolitan Archives.
The Archives Liaison Officer reports to the Executive and to the world at large on our website about significant news and issues.
Our Legislation Monitoring Officer keeps abreast of proposed legislation and takes part in relevant public consultations.
We encourage member societies to liaise with their local archives and other organisations to ensure that family history is promoted positively and that archives are preserved and made accessible to family history researchers.
